Feedback boosts employee engagement, commitment, and interest in work*
Mastering the art of giving and receiving feedback is an essential skill for leaders and managers and the cornerstone to creating a growth orientated culture.

Leaders who don’t actively seek and respond to feedback often have blind spots that can hurt their careers. In fact, less successful leaders are often rated 30% lower in their ability to be coached. It’s also important to note that as leaders mature and become more senior, they often become less open to coaching. This shows how important it is for leaders of all ages and levels to keep growing and stay open to feedback.

However, the benefits of both being coachable and being effective at giving meaningful and impactful feedback are profound. Leaders proficient in giving and receiving feedback are four times more effective than their peers, and cultivate environments with significantly higher levels of employee engagement, motivation, and effort. This skill extends beyond mere performance evaluation; it nurtures a culture where feedback is timely, relevant, and constructive, leading to increases in employee engagement. Adopting more modern approaches to feedback such as Gallup’s ‘Fast Feedback’ approach, transforms feedback from a daunting task into an integral part of daily interactions, fostering psychological safety, agility, and excellence within the team.

Research, including the research “Leadership Frontier: Coachability” by Joe Folkman, Jack Zenger, and Kevin Wilde, reveals a stark contrast between leaders who embrace feedback and those who don’t.

By improving the ability to give and receive both positive and corrective feedback, leaders can ensure a resilient, adaptive, and high-performing workplace culture, aligned with the organisation’s goals and values.

Amy Gray

Hi, I'm Amy Gray

I’m a leadership and business coach whose proprietary coaching frameworks enable individual leaders and managers to develop greater clarity and confidence in their leadership approach and achieve their professional goals.

My work draws on more than 25 years’ experience in senior leadership in digital, technical and marketing roles, as well as the start-up and growth of two successful businesses.  I now coach leaders and businesses on how to become more purposeful and human-centred in their approach whilst scaling their businesses, delivering long-term results with a more engaged workforce.

When I began my leadership journey, I encountered the traditional “command and control” style of leadership that thrived in predictable environments. However, as the work landscape rapidly evolved, so did the challenges and obstacles people faced. Sadly, the development of our people leaders and managers has often lagged behind, clinging to outdated approaches. To maximise the potential of people and drive business growth, it’s crucial for managers to shift from a “boss-like” mentality and style to a more empowering and supportive “coach-like” approach.

This course will support you with fundamental mindsets, frameworks and tools to be more effective in your feedback appproach.
