A Strategic Career Workshop
⏱ 90-180 Minutes | 🖥 Live & Interactive | 👩💻 For Leaders, Managers, Team Contributors
If we don’t actively choose and prioritise our careers, our environment—and others—will choose and shape it for us.
In fast-moving technical and professional environments, structured career planning is often overlooked in favour of “doing great work.” But success doesn’t happen by accident. It takes strategic intent, visibility, and the right kinds of experience.
This workshop provides the tools, insights, and structure to take ownership of your professional development—no matter your current level or function.
In this 90-minute session, you’ll work directly with Executive Leadership Coach Amy Gray to:
Workplaces that want to retain top talent and future leaders must invest in career enablement—not just performance management.
Running this workshop for your team helps you:
Participants walk away with an actionable plan, aligned to your business needs, and a mindset shift from waiting to leading.
This workshop is ideal for:
Team members looking to take ownership of their development
Emerging leaders seeking direction and confidence
Managers wanting better frameworks for career conversations
High performers ready for their next challenge
Organisations wanting to embed intentional growth pathways into their culture
We start by introducing the concept of experience capital—a blend of technical competence, leadership visibility, and measurable impact. Participants explore how this capital shapes career trajectories and why it’s a more strategic focus than performance alone.
You’ll also examine common workplace dynamics like attribution bias and visibility gaps, and reflect on where your current experience capital is strongest—and where it needs investment.
Using a guided Professional Development Canvas, you’ll map out your current responsibilities, achievements, technical strengths, leadership contributions, and development opportunities.
This activity helps you get clear on what you’re already bringing to the table—and what’s ready to evolve. Small-group discussions allow you to share insights, swap perspectives, and validate your value.
You’ll also examine common workplace dynamics like attribution bias and visibility gaps, and reflect on where your current experience capital is strongest—and where it needs investment.
Career progress isn’t always vertical. We’ll explore how lateral moves, stretch assignments, and line roles can position you for greater growth and impact.
You’ll learn how to identify projects that align with your aspirations and your organisation’s priorities, and how to assess whether a move will build the right kind of capital for your goals.
You’ll also examine common workplace dynamics like attribution bias and visibility gaps, and reflect on where your current experience capital is strongest—and where it needs investment.
In a short activity, you’ll outline one bold move you could take in the next 6–12 months.
When roles are limited or paths unclear, the ability to advocate for yourself becomes essential.
This section covers how to initiate productive conversations about advancement, compensation, and new opportunities—especially when the door isn’t already open.
You’ll get scripts, real-world examples, and time to practice framing your value and navigating common objections or hesitation from managers.
You’ll complete the final section of your Professional Development Canvas by identifying your top three growth priorities—covering technical skill, visibility, and leadership development.
Using the 70-20-10 development model, we’ll guide you in crafting a plan with practical actions you can implement immediately, including:
70% on-the-job stretch work
20% peer learning, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
10% formal training or certification
This final piece ensures you leave not just with ideas—but with a roadmap.
